Hacking Tip: Hide Your IP Address

This video will show you how to hide/change your IP address so that you can bypass websites that have blocked your IP address or so that you can surf anonymously. The websites used in this video are CmyIP and Tor Project.

Step 1

So that you can see if it changes or not, the first step we want to
do is find out what our current IP address is. The best way to do this
is to go to CmyIP.

Step 2

Now you will need to download and install
Tor Project, a
compilation of free utilities that enables you to surf the web
anonymously. Among these programs is a proxy anonymizor called Privoxy,
a Tor extension for Firefox, and the core Tor package called Vidalia.

Step 3

Once installed, you will then be prompted to run the Tor program. To
enable it in Firefox, you should see a button in the bottom right corner
that says “Tor Disabled”. If you click it, it will enable Tor.

Step 4

Now if you visit CmyIP
again, you will no longer see your original IP address. To disable Tor
project and get back your old IP address, just disable the Tor button in
Firefox, exit out of the Privoxy and Tor icons in the system tray, and
restart Firefox.

Pick a Tor server in the U.S and it will give you a U.S address.
