Is there a free program to edit videos as in blurring things out and putting words at the bottom on your videos?

While using wax, I noticed 2 black bars (one on top and one on bottom), that cut my video and make it shorter vertical wise. How do I get rid of it?

When using wax, the video does not show in the player above the timeline. Is there a driver I need for this?

Every time I try to add media files I get this message:
    Wax performed an illegal operation

Information about the exception is stored in the files
    “C:\WaxCrash.txt” and
    “C:\WaxCrash.dmp”

Please zip the files..blah blah blah

I even changed it to run in XP (I am running Vista), but I still get this
message. Anyone else having this problem?!

I have downloaded without the extras just like in the video.

Looks like a great program if I can ever use it.
