Currently there are quite a few sections in the forum, which is not a bad thing, but quite a few are empty(ish). Why is there so much splitting of subjects? Why not group the programming forum, some topics might relate to all languages instead of just a few and why is there a C# forum but would C++ have to go to other languages? C++ to me would seem more popular than C#

A suggestion from me would be to group them up and introduce some user etiquette to mark a topic if it is truly about one specific language, i.e. "[Java] How to use .jar files"

Currently the General Questions section is used by a lot of people to do just that, ask General Questions (quite understandable, many people don't read fine print), just not about the website as the forum section is marked to be used for. Should the forum section be remarked or should moderators be patrolling more toughly moving forum topics to the right sections (this would probably have to be done a lot at first but I have faith in the users of this forum that they will learn to do it themselves)?

An addition for the programming forum, change it to "Development" and then you can split it up between "Web/Mobile" (They usually go hand in hand), "Software" (and maybe even "Hardware" if people are that creative ;) ).

Comments/Suggestions go ahead, that's why this post is here.

I'm not really happy with your suggestions. It is better to have sperate forums ,for the "big" Programming languages… And if you want to group them, this could be a real mess even with prefixes…

It's make sense to have desktop development, and sub forums listed there for like python, ruby, java, etc:, as well as web development, and sub forums in there would be like php, jquery, html5, ajax, etc:

As for the videos part I'd make 1 section called video production, and have sub forums in there for editing questions, and such as it'd be easier to find rather than a lot of the added forums.

Now I can go on, and on with my opinions on categorization, but this is Daniels forum, and it's upto him. I'd like to hear what others haft to say related to this subject though.

I agree with your suggestions. I'm working to re-organize it right now. It may take a while, though, since I'll have to re-route all the posts (hundreds of them) to the correct forums.
