    One thought on RAID for backups:

    A RAID mirror (exact copy) like RAID 1 is good for fault tolerance in a server situation, but one of the drawbacks is that if you somehow corrupt your data (virus or otherwise), your mirror backup is also instantly corrupted. For the average system a hard drive sync program (like Microsoft’s SyncToy) that is run regularly.

    Also, a less expensive alternative to an SSDs is a a Compact Flash card SSD http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/22/video-centurys-compact-flash-ssd-sata-adapter-reviewed/

    I wouldn’t recommend using a vacuum cleaner on your computer because you can create ESD (electrostatic discharge) that can ruin the components. If you want to use a vacuum hold it near the dust, without it touching any part of the computer, and use the compressed air to spray the dust into the vacuum hose.

    That was awesome… a few more tips include;
    Not removing and replacing the HDD all the time.
    Handling your computer safely
    Keep it away from water or any liquids
    Take precautions on what you download in case it could be a hacker’s program.
